CMU IS SELECTED AS PART OF THE HERO’S HOMECOMING CONSORTIUM

California Miramar University was selected as one of the key members of the Hero’s Homecoming Consortium last October by the Camp Minowlake Foundation, a San Diego based non-profit organization. The Camp Minowlake Foundation is headed by Dr. Janathin Miller who was one of the founders of California State University – San Marcos.

CMU has been active in the local Veteran community and has implemented a Military Spouse Scholarship program designed to offer spouses of active duty military full and partial educational scholarships while there spouses are actively serving their country.

The Hero’s Homecoming Consortium has been working with U.S. House of Representative Bob Filner (Republican) who is the Chairman of the Houses Veteran Affairs Committee, since August of 2007, to implement a Homecoming retreat designed for returning Iraqi and Afghanistan Veterans and their families. The goal of the effort is to lovingly assist these veterans in their reintegration into civilian life and to help them re-establish bonds with their families after months or years of war zone based active duty.
